Top 8 Memories of 2008

It has been such a long time since I have posted! I guess I've felt like there hasn't really been a reason to post things when nobody reads it but I am going to try to update this more regularly. Not just for the people who might see this, but because this is something I can look at since I haven't been good at keeping a journal lately! Anyway, I thought it would be fun to wrap up the year by talking about my favorite memories from this year!

8. Ashman Family Reunion 2008 - this was fun. We rented a cabin in Heber City and spent a few days just hanging out. There was a lot of karaoke and Rock Band. It was fun to take some time off of school and reconnect with the family.

7. West Yellowstone trip - a friend and I decided one day to just go to West Yellowstone. We drove up there and went to a restaurant that I had heard of and just walked around the town. It was fun to be spontaneous and just do whatever!

6. Late night photoshop - One night I had gotten locked out of my apartment and no one was answering the door. I knew that my roommate would be getting up early to go to work for custodial so my friend Caiti said she'd stay up late with me until my roommate woke up. We got bored and photoshopped ourselves into fun pictures like we were in Paris, Hawaii and stuff. The pictures looked so fake but it was so funny I laughed so hard.

5. Red button pushing - I work in the accounting office when I am at school and one day Heather (the girl I worked with) and we noticed that there was a red button under the desk. We were wondering what it was so we pushed it. I said haha I bet it's one of those panic buttons and a cop is going to come or something but I didn't think anything of it. We asked a guy who works with us what it was and he said I hope you didn't push it. And we asked why and then a police officer came running into our office! It was pretty funny.

4. Jeanene and Joanne visit me at school - Jeanene was visiting from Australia. She came up to see Joanne in Idaho Falls and they wanted to come up to Rexburg to see their old stomping grounds and to see me of course! We went to the bookstore and we walked around the MC for a little bit. It was so fun!

3. Geology class - I took a natural disasters class during the summer semester and it was so much fun! I learned so much about the earth and about the geology of Idaho. I was in the class with one of my best friends Caiti. I made a lot of friends in that class too and it was a class where I looked forward to going to it because of the people and all of the fun.

2. Mamma Mia - my Brother and Dad had a part time job where they would be gone all day on Wednesdays and on those days my Mom and I would use that time to get closer. One day we went and saw Mamma Mia and went to dinner. It was fun to spend time with her. I am so grateful to have her in my life. She is my very best friend and I don't know what I would do without her.

1. Temple dedication - The Rexburg temple was finally dedicated in February. It was so neat to be able to see the dedication and to be there when President Monson dedicated his first temple as a prophet. That temple is special to me because I've lived next to it and have watched it being built from the ground up.

2008 was a great year and I hope 2009 will be just as good or even better! Also a bonus memory: I saw Flavor Flav at the airport. Haha!

I've been tagged!

I am horrible about keeping up with my blog! I love reading other people's blogs but I feel like my life is super boring so there's probably not much that people would want to learn about me. But I have been tagged so I will answer these questions.

1. What was i doing 10 years ago.
I was 10 years old so it was about summertime before sixth grade. That summer was so fun I would go to the pool, sleep on the trampoline with my friends. I probably enjoyed listening to Hanson and Spice Girls. Also that summer I went to stay at my Grandma's house for a month and we would do fun things practically everyday. I remember going to the zoo, antelope island, and a whole bunch of other fun things.

2. Five things on my to do list.
For tomorrow I need to go shopping, get some software for my computer, go to class, go to work, and do laundry because I spilled butter all over my shirt on Sunday.

3. If I were a billionaire I would...
Buy houses in a whole bunch of different cities like New York, Paris, London, and Boulder (I heart Colorado) and probably some other places. Then I would go to school and take classes that I want without a degree in mind. I would also just travel and learn things from the world. I would also go to cooking school.

4. Bad Habits
I say like a lot. And I noticed when I talk on the phone at work I say ummmm and alright a lot too. Also I'm a bad procrastinator. I will leave everything to the last minute so basically I'm not good with managing my time!

5. Five Places I've lived
Broomfield, CO
Northglenn, CO
Rexburg, ID
Aurora, CO
Layton, UT (for like one month but I didn't have anymore places that I lived)

6. Six jobs I have had
Cold Stone Creamery : Team Member (hardest job/least paying job)
Kiddie Kandids: Team Member ( I would just help customers pick out their pictures)
Dish Network: Customer Service Representative ( I was the person people talk to when they have problems. And I would help people order Pay Per Views.
Fiserv Lending Solutions: Junior Analyst (I did nothing at this job and I got paid for it. Easiest job of my life!)
BYU-Idaho Accounting Office: Receptionist ( I answer the phones and tell people who they get to go see. It's nice because I get my homework done!)

I tag: Heather Nilsen, Joanne and Jeanene and that's it because those are the only people who may look at my blog.

I'm going to sue you!!!

Why is it that people will only do things for others when they think legal action will be taken?

I was on my way back to Rexburg and I decided that I should take the shuttle on Saturday. So I made my reservation in the morning for the shuttle that left at 3:40. I noticed that some of the reservations said to call in to the office, but mine didn't say anything so I didn't.

I was at the pick up place at the right time but the shuttle hadn't come and it was ten minutes later. I know that they are usually on time so I called the office and they assured me that the shuttle would be there soon to pick me up.

I waited for another half an hour and I called them again. They told me that my name wasn't on the driver's manifest because I had made my reservation the day of and that I should have called into the office so they could alert the driver that I would need to be picked up. There was no where that told me I should do this, and they shouldn't have let me make a reservation if I needed to call. Some of them said that I should call the office while others didn't. So they should have had them all say that.

I was upset and I didn't want to deal with them anymore. I told them to refund my money and I would just get a ride with a friend of mine. She then told me that I wouldn't normally get a refund but she would give it to me minus a ten dollar fee because it was my fault that I didn't call the office.

I was very upset, but I wanted to be done with it so I said that would be fine. My Grandpa was frustrated so he blurted, "I'm going to get my lawyers!" Immediately her tone changed. She wanted to talk to him. So I handed the phone to him. He didn't say much to her but she ended up giving me a full refund and told me I could ride the next shuttle for free.

Why is it that she was only nice to me when my Grandpa threatened to get his lawyers involved? Why can't people be nice and do things for others because that is the right thing to do?

My Journey Home

So it has been quite a long time since I last posted. Maybe it's because nothing interesting really happens to me. But I had an interesting Saturday. I encountered people that were cool and people that were weird and I thought I would post about the people I met and the long journey home. *This is really long. And I feel like I ramble so if you're reading this and you're bored you can totally stop reading.

I wake up at 7:30 a.m. I had a hard night sleeping (I've had the flu for the past few days). I felt a lot better (thank goodness, I don't know how I would've made it if I didn't). So I quickly got to work doing my clean check and moving apartments. I finally got everything finished and I was on my way to the shuttle. I had a huge suitcase (I am not a light packer), my purse, and a backpack. I noticed people driving by looking at me weird. I'm sure I was a sight to behold with all of my stuff!

I finally make it to the place I'm supposed to be. I've never been on the shuttle from BYU-Idaho before so I didn't really know where to meet. I happen to see a girl and she assures me this is the place where the shuttle picks people up, so I patiently wait with her. I look down at the time and it was 11:03. I was supposed to be there at 11 and the shuttle is never usually late so I waited a few more minutes. By now it's 11:10 and I'm sure he should have been there by now so I call the headquarters and the lady informs me that the driver is there waiting. He was on the other side of the Hart. I ask the lady to tell him to wait and we'll be there in a minute. As I start to walk over with the girl the driver starts driving away. I'm thinking that I'm going to have to wait for the next shuttle. Luckily he turned around and now I'm on my way!

There were some pretty interesting characters getting on and off the shuttle. I love observing people so I had a lot of people to behold. In our first stop in Idaho Falls a lady who looked like a size zero with a baby in tow boarded the shuttle. She was gorgeous and her baby was adorable. He was such a good baby! He never cried once. I hope my kids are like that! There was also a man who smoked at every stop. He kind of scared me. He also happened to sit in front of me which was less than ideal because his smoke irritated my cough. Luckily I wasn't on there for very long after he got on.

Also in Idaho Falls an interesting man boarded the bus. He had on a t-shirt that showed a comic book hero and he seemed a little eccentric. This guy really made my trip worth it. He was friendly and he was talking to everyone. He seemed like a pretty nice guy. Towards the end of the trip he said that he was going to listen to some music. He pulls out his C.D. player and in my head I'm thinking he's going to be listening to something like Korn or heavy metal-ish. No. I hear him whisper singing loudly, "Everybody makes mistakes, Everybody has those days, Everybody knows what I'm talking about everybody has those days." If you don't know who sings that, it is Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus. I really wanted to laugh out loud but didn't. It definitely was one of the highlights of my trip.

I finally get off the shuttle in Ogden. I scheduled it so I would meet my Grandparents there and they would take me to the airport a few hours later. I don't really like the shuttle so I wanted to break up my trip with some relaxation. The shuttle was an hour late (it might have had something to do with the fact that I delayed the shuttle fifteen minutes) so I got to see my Grandparents for an hour and then I went to the airport.

I was checking in on Southwest and I see a girl from my French class. I didn't really know her that well, but she smiled at me as she walked by. I check in and make my way to security. I throw away all of my water bottles that I have in my purse and I remember that I have a bottle of Bath and Body works lotion in my purse. I'm hoping they'll just let it slide. I separate all of my things. My laptop is in a separate bin and I push it towards the x-ray machine. The guy behind me had been talking on his iPhone (which I have) and he had a MacBook Pro just like me. He asked me if I was nervous that we would get our computers mixed up (his computer was right behind mine in the line). I said that that wouldn't be good and he showed me his closer up. He had dents all over his and he told me that he had dropped it out of helicopters a few times. He was so cool I was glad to make a new friend.

Finally they put my bags through and they notice the lotion in my purse. The guy is like, "You're gonna hate me, but I have to do this." I was like alright just throw it away. I forgot that I had some in my backpack too and he proceeded to take that away also. The new friend I had made told me that the TSA security people don't really know what to look for most of the time and when they think they see something they get excited. It's like a game for them. He told me that one time he was going through security and he had a knife in his pocket and they didn't even confiscate it! They sure know how to find that toxic lotion though.

I make it to my gate and it turns out the girl from my French class was also on my flight! We start talking about class and stuff and this older lady overhears us and asks us if we go to BYU-Idaho. We say yes and then we strike up a conversation with her. She tells us about her life and all of the places she has traveled. She had done so many awesome things with her life, I admired her. I hope that when I am her age I can look back and say that I have done all of these things. We board the flight and we all sit together. She tells us how her and her husband lived in Africa for a year and about the people that they met. She talks about her children and how after each of her children's mission she met them as they were released, and then they traveled the area of where they had been. She was amazing.

I finally arrived and I was so excited to be home in beautiful Denver and to see my parents! I am so glad to be home! Sorry this is so long and sorry if it was kind of lame.

I love to see the temple...

Last weekend my good friend Brittney came up from Provo. It was a total surprise!!! I was getting ready for the day and Liz (our mutual friend) called to invite me to lunch with her and "a friend". I told her I wasn't going to be ready in time and that we'd have to go another day but she said that they would wait. Liz and her "friend" showed up at my apartment and I freaked out!! We went to lunch and we went to the Rexburg Temple Open House. It was amazing and I'm glad we got the opportunity to go, It was so fun to have her here and I can't wait until I can go down to Provo and visit her!

15 Things about me...

I saw on another person's blog that people were posting a hundred things about themselves and I decided that I would only do 15 because I can't think of 100 things about myself...

1. I like Mexican food a lot. In fact recently all I've been eating is Quesadillas and Nachos. Probably not the best choice!
2. I love to cook/bake. It's so fun for me to make food for others!!
3. I'm best friends with my Mom. She has always been there for me and always listens to me. I couldn't ask for a better friend.
4. I love to learn about other people. So much so that I will learn things about them that people might consider stalking. Maybe it's friendly stalking?
5. French culture amazes me. I'm taking French this semester and even though I am not the best at it I love learning it and I hope to one day live in Paris and do Frenchy things like going to the Eiffel Tower and eating Crepes and wearing berets.
6. I hate the snow. It really is not fun walking in it especially when your shoes have no traction.
7. I LOVE perfume. Some of my favorites are Burberry London, Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue, and Dolce and Gabbana The One. I love how a scent can remind me of a certain time or a certain place. Whenever I where Light Blue I think of Europe where I first smelled it.
8. I aspire to be on The Amazing Race. I think it would absolutely rock to win the million and then be able to do whatever I want for a while.
9. Colorado is my most favorite place. I worked in Boulder when I was home last semester and I fell in love. The people there are so open minded and the mountains are gorgeous.
10. Going to England is an obsession of mine. I think in another life I was born British.
11. I love computers. I recently got a new one and I am in love with it! I will never use a Windows computer again!
12. I fractured my wrist when I was in 4th grade.
13. I have a purple coat and a purple backpack so obviously purple is my favorite color but I also love green and pink.
14. I hate Moths. So much so that whenever I see when I FREAK out.
15. I want to write in magazines. That is my dream...

I figured that was a good way to start out a blog. I will try to update my blog regularly!
